WHAT TO BRING’S
GENERAL …
(Sorry if some are obvious, but hopefully all helpful).
~ Comfy clothes & layers ~ Temperatures will very a fair bit across the retreat depending on humidity, weather, altitude etc.
~ Comfy shoes & atleast one pair with good grip / closed toes ~ We will be doing lots of walking!
~ Sunglasses & sun cream.
~ All general toiletries.
~ Any medication you might need.
~ Charger plugs & cables for phones, cameras etc ~note these days you can get great universal adapters with extra charging points too. Highly recommend a universal one as Peru uses type A, C & sometimes B!
~ Maybe a hat for extra shade.
~ A bottle for water, for refilling from big mineral bottles & filters at hotels etc.
~ & or a flask ~ Some rooms might not have kettles, so nice if you want to go to bed with a tea or take one on a journey etc as we can ask the staff at our stays for hot water.
~ Mosquito repellent ~ The Amazon is known for humidity & there can be lots there, Kuma document recommends to have some deet in it.
~ On this note any time we go abroad my mum takes probiotics before & during. ~ This helps with gut health & lessens chances of getting ill. We will be eating foods our body might not be used to & coming into contact with foreign bacteria etc.
~ Hand sanitiser is often worth having, as are packets of tissues.
~ Ear plugs & eye masks are another great thing to have, especially if one day you end up wanting a nap whilst travelling.
~ Swim wear. We will be going to a few places with pools where we will have some free time for swimming hopefully - On that note towels are provided through out the trip & most places have a soap & or toiletries in the room.
~ Reading glasses if you need them.
Another good thing to mention at this point is perhaps you may want to bring some tea bags or snacks for the long drives. There will be chances to stop & buy these things most travel days, but often good to have something like this with you already.
YOGA RELATED...
~ Everyone will need a yoga mat - you can fold or roll this up into luggage, We've taken it as hand luggage a few times to different places & it's never been a problem. We usually have it as the base of a suitcase
~ A large sarong/ scarf to cover yourselves in meditation & for some of the classes as a prop.
~ Recommended but not necessary ~ mini cushion (travel ones are great for this) for sitting work, meditation & during travelling it can be really useful too. Or what my momma has started doing is taking a small pillow case & putting a jumper or poncho in it, then you have a pillow(:
My mum wanted to add ~ She takes electrolytes & minerals daily. BASICA is one of the best brands. You can buy it online, or I can give you the link of a naturopath who gets it for us. It's in powder form & you dissolve a tea spoon in water. She takes it with her abroad in a double sandwich bag, to reduce the size & weight of the pot.
